Pumpkin Picking

Today we had our yearly pumpkin picking expedition with Uncle Adam, Aunt Layne and Stella. We tried a different place this year and I was pretty impressed with their selection. Much bigger than the other place. What I wasn't impressed with was the girls cooperation in partaking in photos. I wasn't at all surprised though it has gotten progressively harder every year to take them. I'm sure next year will be even worse. However, the day was nice and now we have a pumpkin for carving :)

We also picked a whole bunch of apples which Hazel was absolutely thrilled over. My little apple lover.

Deemer's in Acadia

The Deemer clan spent another lovely trip in Maine. What to say, it was beautiful as always. We had some great times exploring the carriage paths, eating dinners in the cozy motor home, hiking, sitting on the ledges and bopping around in Bar Harbor. Stella and Clara seemed to really enjoy themselves this year. Last trip they we're both under a year old and sort of oblivious to the beauty we were trying to show them. I think I can see Clara falling in love with Maine. She loved hiking on papa's back and really enjoyed spending time down by the water. It was cold, really cold, so we didn't go to the ledges as much as we usually do but Clara loved it when we did. She also enjoyed throwing stones and exploring tidal pools with me at various other coves. Hazel was a different story. She was somewhat miserable driving to and from our destination and pretty much any other time she was in the car. I discovered after the trip that much of her grumpys were most likely teething related. What can you do? As always it was hard to leave and I'm already looking forward to future trips. More pictures if your interested.

Nursing is Over :'(

I think it's finally official. Hazel is done. After our trip to Toronto the end of August, Hazel has been nursing very sporatically. I mean like once a week. Pretty bizarre, huh? Well now that we have returned from Maine it's been two full weeks and nothing. Even if she wanted to I don't think it can possibly happen. I'm really sad:( Months ago I thought she'd be going to at least two and not even want to quit then. I actually was prepared to nurse her longer than Clara. Since she's my last I really didn't want to give it up. I've really enjoyed being able to nurse my girls. It made me feel good as a parent being able to give them that gift. I really loved having that special bonding time with them and am very sad to see it go.
