Sister love

I posted on facebook but of course had to write this here too. Today, I found Clara and Hazel tucked away together in Clara's bed. They were all snuggled up together and Clara was "reading" to Hazel, Hazel's new favorite book, David Gets in Trouble by David Shannon. It was just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. I love watching them be affectionate towards each other, it's much better than when they are fighting.

So the reason for Hazel's obsession with this book. On one of the pages David spills his juice all over the floor. How horrifiying! Hazel is totally disgusted by wetness on the floor. It's really rather funny because the girl is in a perpetual state of dishevelment but if you get even a drop of liquid on the floor she freezes. "wet, WET!" She's terrified of getting her socks or barefeet wet. So David spilling juice is a big deal. The whole story she says, "jus, dadid, jus, jus, no."Until you get to the page with the juice incident. So when Clara got to the page she says "Look sweetie, here it is, David spills his juice." Very cute. So there it is, I wish I had my camera ready. Ten minutes later they were back downstairs fighting over who gets to hold the crayon basket. *sigh*

Marriage

Clara and I have been talking about marriage lately. She has been trying to figure out relationships and how people relate to her. "I'm your mommy, papa is your papa, Hazel is your sister, mommy is married to papa etc." So a few days ago she asked who she was going to marry. I told her I don't know, you probably haven't even met the person yet. So now everyday she tells me. "I still haven't decided who I'm going to marry yet mommy." Seriously, do we have to worry about this already!

More Winter Fun

I realized I haven't blogged about the rest of our snow adventures. Let's just say it's fun but it gets old fast. It's been a week and everyone is still dealing with large piles of snow where it shouldn't be, making driving and parking a big pain. Supposedly, if you believe predictions, an even bigger storm might be coming March 7th, the day after we leave for Seattle. Woohoo! I just hope it doesn't come while we're trying to leave. So here are a few more photos. You can see more in the Winter Mobile Me Gallery .

Why?

Why has Hazel picked the dead of winter to develop a naked obsession?

"na na round! na na round!" (naked around, meaning run around naked) And watch out if you try and stop her.

It's pretty funny to watch because she loves to dance and spin in circles too. I have no problem letting her have a few minutes before bed for naked time but she wishes it was all day. *sigh*

Lots and lots of snow!

Berks County is in the midst of one of the biggest snow storms we've had in years . . . and we're stuck inside with a sick three year old :(

I took a few photos from the porch. I'm sure I'll get more tomorrow when the snow stops coming down and I can take the camera out. Hopefully, Clara will be feeling better by then.

Bryan snow blowed like crazy today to keep a path cleared.

Snow almost up to the top of the fence.

Building up on the windows.

Seriously . . .

how can you get this messy from just one cookie?

In reality, she got much worse than this before she was done.

SNOW!

We actually got a decent snowfall, the first in many years. And more is on it's way tonight. Clara is absolutely loving it. Saturday, after shoveling and snow blowing our way out, we took the girls down to the big hill at the playground. It was quite an adventure. Clara made it sledding down the hill maybe three times before Hazel had a complete freak out and we had to get home FAST! Repeat, Sunday minus the freak out. Hazel was so exhausted from all the snow play and swinging at the playground she fell asleep in the Ergo on the way home.

Completely, dead asleep. . .

Today, since I knew we'd be getting more snow, Clara and I graffitied the back yard. She was having a total blast. Food coloring + spray bottle=total happiness.

Hazel waist deep.

The only sad part about all this snow is not having Greta around to romp in it with us. She absolutely loved the snow and even in her old age would find some new found vigor everytime it fell.

Our Artist

Who's being totally silly. In addition to Clara's budding art skills, she's also developing quite a sense of humor. But more on that another time, here are some of her recent works. Mostly titled what she told us they were.

Zebra

A great, big, tall mountain

A purple tree

A house with sunshine

I'm not sure on this one (my guess is a guy in the grass)

Two clouds and a fence

I've been scanning all my favorites in and sharing them in hopes to get a book made when we've collected enough. I find it amazing everytime she shares one of these with us. She might do three or four sheets of scribbling and then just whip out one of these. Other times she sits and draws three or four pictures like these in a row.

I know, I'm an overly proud mother :) Just let me enjoy it :P

Hazel . . .

is in love with this blanket. She can't sleep without it and insists on carrying it around the house. Sometimes it even makes it out of the house, though I usually make her leave it in the car for fear that we might loose it. It has marker on it and the tag is so gross from her chewing on it all the time. It's over due for a washing but I can't seem to get her to part with it long enough for a cleaning.

The girl just loves "lanket.

In other Hazel news, on the first of February she peed in the POTTY! Seriously, already! She's been so fascinated with the potty for months. She is always wanting to sit on it. I noticed that after bath time she usually has to pee so I sat her down and she went. She has since been going whenever she sits on it. I can't say that she's ready for full potty training yet but she seems to have some control so we'll just roll with it and see.
