And next comes the carving.

Clara selected a design for our big pumpkin and I got to work.

Hazel worked on scooping out the seeds of our little one we grew this summer. She did an excellent job. Much less complaining from her about the slimy stuff.

And the end results. Clara drew a face for our little one and I cut it out for her. The mouth was one big mass of scribbles so I improvised on that a little, just cutting around the scribble.

And best of all roasted pumpkin seeds to snack on. Yummy!

Happy Halloween!!!

Pumpkin Picking

Took our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch today. We are cutting it a little close with Halloween being tomorrow but hey, you can't beat 50% off pumpkins.

I don't remember why such a pouty face on Hazel, she's been pulling those out a lot lately.

Worlds End State Park

We just got back from a long weekend at Worlds End State Park. It was nice to spend some time with the whole Deemer clan. It doesn't get much better then camping in the fall with family. We had campfires, took walks, ran through the leaves, threw stones in the river, read, slept, ate and ate some more :)

The girls were having a particularly nice time hanging out with their cousins. We've all been a little busy lately and they hadn't been getting as much playtime together. So it was nice that they could be together and keep each other busy, well most of the time.

Clara already seems to really look forward to our camping trips. She LOVED it outside and honestly just wanted to stay out all day digging, gathering sticks and stones, taking walks etc. I think as much fun as it was for her outside it was equally fun for both of them inside on their bunk when it was time for sleep. Though they share a room with bunk-beds at home this was their first time sleeping right next to each other. I didn't realize they could stay up so late! Hopefully, they can work things out a little better when we go to SC in a few weeks.

The last remains of babyhood

Hazel got her first haircut today and with it gone is the last remains of her babyhood. When I took Clara it wasn't quite such a big deal because I had already chopped her little toddler mullet a few times before it was time for her to get a real trim. I just couldn't have my baby walking around with a mullet. Hazel, however, had such beautiful hair that grew in so evenly that it really wasn't necessary. In fact, I probably could have waited even longer to have hers trimmed but every time we go to get Clara's done she asks about her turn. So there you have it. She was a very good girl, sat for her shampoo and even braids. I think the prospects of the lollipop were too tempting to risk her usual mischievousness. Melissa did an excellent job as always.

Fairies welcome

Clara got a Tinkerbell movie from Uncle Matt for her birthday and now
she is all into fairies. Today we made a fairy house so our little
fairy friends will come visit. Clara started writing a fairies
welcome sign but ran out of room for all the letters. So all you
fairies out there come visit please:)

Pumpkin and Polka Dots

We worked super hard at growing this fantastic pumpkin. (By we I mean me :)) Sure the girls shoved the seeds into the ground in the spring. But mommy was the one out there watering the plants and picking all those stinkin' squash beetles off the leaves. All so my little Clara would not be disappointed when her pumpkin plants yielded no pumpkins. So there it is our crowning achievement for the summer and a couple of cute kids to go along with it.

On a side note, notice that dress Clara is wearing, the polka dot one. The very same dress she wore for her birthday party. It has become her new fav and she wants to wear it every day. I've got more pics of her in it to follow. If I get around to editing them :)

Who are these guys?

Clara started this morning with an imaginary tale that kept getting more elaborate as the day went on. At some point this morning she was talking about two little monster friends that are coming to visit her. They are going to have a tea party with her. After hearing about them every half hour I asked if they were here yet. "No, they must be running late." The said monsters then turned more into two ghost boys who can walk through walls. Their names are Spotty and Meska. Spotty and Meska both wear black boots, have black spots and their favorite color is black. They each live in their own houses by themselves because they can take care of themselves so they don't have a mommy or daddy. The brothers live far away in Washington and they fly here on a very tiny, little airplane that is this big (she pinches her pointer finger and thumb close together and squints.) We can't ride on these airplanes because they are too small and only for ghosts. They are her good friends and she's waiting for them because they really are late.

Perhaps these are the ghosts she blamed for ripping Hazel's doll carrier two days ago. Imagination, imagination.
